Baby Jogger Car Seat Recycling

All capsules and car seats have an expiry date to make sure the seat is in a good condition to protect your child incase of an emergency. You can find the expiry date underneath your capsule or car seat.

Once your car seat reaches its expiry date we do recommend you recycle it, as up to 75% can be recycled if they are dismantled correctly. The average car seat is made of 52% plastic, 16% metal, 2% straps and 30% of non recyclable materials including fabric and unmarked plastics.

In New Zealand Seat Smart is an organisation which collects and recycles car seats to help reduce waste.

The Seat Smart program was started in April 2016 in aim to divert the many car seats that would typically end up in landfill when their expiry dates come up (it is estimated that at least 100,000 car seats expire every year).

You can recycle your capsule or car seat for free with some insurance companies or you can drop them to collection sites throughout the nation. Some locations charge a fee but this depends on the support of your local council.
